The emergence of new paradigms for data management raises a number of exciting challenges. An essential objective of the theory of database is to respond to these challenges by offering a solid foundation for the development of the region. This volume contains papers selected for the third International Conference on Database theory, ICDT’90. The conference series is held each and every year in other gorgeous European cities, Rome 1986, Bruges in 1988 with the objective published as volumes 234 and 326 of the exact same series. ICDT’90 organized in Paris by the Institut National de Recherche Informatique et Automatique one. The conference has two invited talks and 31 papers selected from 129 submissions. Papers describing original suggestions and new results on the basis of databases, knowledge bases, object-oriented databases, relational theory, transaction processing, data structures and deductive databases.
