He flew support missions for Operation Cobra and Market Garden, and numerous bombing missions over occupied Europe during the summer and autumn of 1944, attacking enemy airfields, factories of aviation, railway yards, shipyards, oil refineries and chemical plants. While he and his crew survived without serious injury, they have witnessed the destruction of many flights of damage and severe damage to their friends his own plan several times.
