The AWK Programming Language Description

Originally developed by Alfred Aho, Brian Kernighan and Peter Weinberger in 1977, is a model for the language AWK to write programs short and frequent tasks of data manipulation. In 1985, a new version of the language developed, which includes additional functions such as several input files, dynamic normal expressions, and functions defined by the user. This new version is offered for Unix and MS-DOS. This is the 1st book on AWK. It begins with a tutorial that shows how straightforward AWK is to use. The guide is followed by a comprehensive manual for the new version of AWK.
